LaVern Eugene Albrecht

January 27, 1941 — March 16, 2009

LaVern Eugene Albrecht, 68, of Lexington, Nebraska, died suddenly at his home Monday, March 16, 2009, at Lexington. He was born January 27, 1941, at Miller, Nebraska to Robert and Elva (Stevens) Albrecht. LaVern graduated from Kearney High School with the class of 1959. He then went onto continue his education at Bloomington Community College in Bloomington, Indiana where he received his Heating & Cooling degree. He was united in marriage to Connie Scott on August 5, 1960, at Zion Lutheran Church in Kearney, Nebraska. The marriage was blessed with four children; Danny, Kent, Kristy & Cindy. The marriage later ended in divorce. LaVern returned to Nebraska in 1998, moving to Lexington. He worked for a time in Maintenance at IBP and then Monroe Auto. LaVern enjoyed fishing, gardening, especially his tomato plants. He had a green thumb and could grow practically anything. He loved to feed the birds and squirrels and cherished his cat, Pierre’. But, his most enjoyable times were spent with his family, especially his grandkids. Survivors include one son: Kent Albrecht of Cozad, Nebraska and his friend, Gina Trostle of Nickerson, Kansas Two daughters: Kristy & Ray, Jr. Wolfe of Lexington, Nebraska Cindy & David Brown of Sumner, Nebraska One sister-in-law: Vaughn Albrecht of Kearney, Nebraska Twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. LaVern was preceded in death by his parents; son, Danny; one brother, Kenneth; and one sister, Evelyn Olsen. Funeral Services will be Friday, March 20, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lexington, Nebraska with Reverend Michael Gruhn officiating. Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery at Amherst at l:30 p.m. the afternoon of the service. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 19, 2009, from 4-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington. Memorials are suggested to the Family for later designation.
