Marjorie A. "Marge" Karlberg

Marjorie A. “Marge” Karlberg, 80, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Sunday, March 1, 2009, at Tri-County Hospital in Lexington. She was born September 28, 1928, at Detroit, Michigan, to Rex Vernon and Esther Eloise (Morris) Thomas. She moved with her family to Nebraska when she was 14 months old. Marge graduated in 1946, from the University of Nebraska School of Agriculture at Curtis, Nebraska. While at Curtis she received her Normal Training and upon graduation started teaching school and taught for four years. She was united in marriage to Leland Karlberg on September 4, 1949, at the Evangelical Free Church in Sumner, Nebraska. After raising her family, Marge began a second career in 1977 as a travel agent. In 1992, she moved to Lexington. She enjoyed traveling, needlework and reading. She was a member of the United Church of Sumner, a 4-H leader for 35 years and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Miller, Nebraska. Marge was especially proud of her grandchildren and their accomplishments. Survivors include her husband: Leland Karlberg of Lexington, Nebraska Two daughters: Marilee (Dale) Kabes of LaVista, Nebraska Peggy (Dave) Stenberg of Lexington, Nebraska One son: Tom (Kim) Karlberg of Eaton, Colorado One sister: Milrae (Dean) Horn of Broken Bow, Nebraska Six grandchildren: Joel (Jill) Stenberg of Omaha, Nebraska; Andrew Kabes of Sidney, Nebraska; Jeffrey Stenberg of Lexington, Nebraska; Jordan, Cade and Morgan Karlberg all of Eaton, Colorado. Marge was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Dick Thomas Funeral Services will be Thursday, March 5, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Church of Sumner-East Campus with Reverend Ken Hutson officiating Burial will be in the Jewell Cemetery at Sumner. There will be no visitation. The casket will be open at the church one hour prior to service time. Memorials are suggested to the United Church of Sumner in lieu of flowers.
