Doris Marjorie Linn, 94, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2015, at Plum Creek Healthcare Community in Lexington.
Doris was born November 4, 1920, near Cozad, Nebraska, to John Franklin and Stella Cora (Watkins) Linn. She spent her entire life in the Lexington area. Doris was a 1938 graduate of Lexington High School.
She was united in marriage to Vernon Jolliffe on November 16, 1938. Three children were born to this marriage; Kathleen, Kenneth, and Stanley. She was then married to Alvie Johnson on April 7, 1964. She welcomed his children, Barbara, Darrell, Shirley, and Dale to the family. She would later develop a special friendship with Dutch Anthony. This relationship lasted until Dutch’s death.
Doris, through her lifetime, was a member of the Methodist Church, the Presbyterian Church, and New Life Assembly Church in Kearney. She ran the Sale Barn Café for years, volunteered to deliver Meals-on-wheels, and was instrumental in starting the clothing operation in Elm Creek. Near and dear to her heart was belonging to the Lung support group and always was an advocate for organ donation.
She loved animals, gardening, and visiting with family and friends. She had a wit like no other, and a sense of humor and smile that could make anybody feel comfortable. She was one of a kind. Rest in peace dear Doris.
Survivors include two sons, Ken (Gladys) Jolliffe of Malcolm, Nebraska; and, Stan (Anna) Jolliffe of Cozad, Nebraska; stepchildren; Barb (Arnie) Goracke of Sterling, Nebraska, Shirley Watkins of Castle Rock, Washington, and, Dale (Cindy) Johnson of Sisters, Oregon; one step-daughter-in-law, Pat Johnson of Oregon; eight grandchildren, many step-grandchildren, as well as many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and two great-great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Kathleen Jacobson; grandson, Jody Harwood; three brothers, Virgil, Laverne, & Dean Linn; and one sister, Edith Blackman; stepson, Darrell Johnson; and step-granddaughter, Amy McCracken.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, October 26, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington with Reverend Chuck Olson officiating.
Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington.
Visitation will be held Sunday, October 25, 2015, from 2-4 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington.
Memorials are suggested to the Lexington Volunteer Fire Department.
