Consuelo Escobar Rios, 85, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away Friday, October 9, 2015, at her home in Lexington.
She was born March 28, 1930, in Orange Grove, Texas, to Julio and Candidelaria (Gonzalez) Escobar. She attended school in the Orange Grove, Texas area.
She was united in marriage to Julian L. Rios in May of 1947 in Snyder, Texas. The couple moved from Texas to Nebraska several times, and settled in Lexington for good in 1964. They were the proud parents of seven girls and seven boys. Julian preceded her in death on May 19, 2010.
Consuelo loved watching soap operas, cheering for her beloved Chicago Cubs, and was an avid Nebraska Cornhusker fan. She was also a long-time, faithful member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lexington.
She enjoyed being with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a heart of gold and would never turn away a stranger. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. Rest in Peace, sweet Consuelo. (If you have any pull up there, Go Cubs)!!!!
She is lovingly survived by seven sons: Paul and Marry Ann Rios of Prague, Nebraska, Raymond and Adella Rios of Wahoo, Nebraska, Joe and Herminia Rios of Kearney, Nebraska, Jesse and Karla Rios of Gothenburg, Nebraska, Julian Rios, Jr. of Fremont, Nebraska, Fred and Michelle Rios of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Gabriel Rios of Kearney, Nebraska.
Seven daughters: Janie Alvardo of Kenosha, Wisconsin, Herlinda Reyes of Fort Collins, Colorado, Guadalupe and Don Jones of West Palm Beach Florida, Irene and Richard Kacprzicki of Pensacola, Florida, Mercedes Consuelo and Refugio Bueno of Lexington, Nebraska, Margarita and Larry Cain of Texarkana, Texas, and Maria Rios of Lexington, Nebraska.
Also surviving are twenty-nine grandchildren, forty-six great-grandchildren, and thirteen great-great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Consuelo was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Julian; four, sisters: Juanita, Virginia, Louisa and Emilana; grandchildren, Robbie, Douglas, Damon, Zachary, Carol, Julian Paul and Mathew.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, October 14, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, with Father Neal Nollette and Father Jack Schlaf, con-celebrating.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 from 2-5 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.
Rosary will be on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lexington.
Burial will be held in St. Ann’s Catholic Cemetery in Lexington.
Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
