Kathleen Ann (Kathy) Hendricks, 61, of Lexington, passed away Sunday, February 15, 2009, surrounded by her loving family at the home of her parents.
She was born August 26, 1947, at Callaway, Nebraska, to Rollie Kenneth and Ruth Renee (Aikin) Hendricks.
Kathy grew up in Callaway until she was in the 5th grade, when the family moved to Lexington. She was baptized at Morningstar Evangelical Church near Callaway.
Kathy finished her education in Lexington, graduating from Lexington High School with the class of 1965. She then attended a semester at Kearney State College, but decided work was more important at the time and went to work for Lexington Community Hospital. In 1981, she went back to school at Kearney State College where she received her Licensed Practical Nursing Degree. She worked at Tri-County Hospital until her illness forced her to leave.
She loved her work at the hospital and the patients and co-workers loved her. She had a no-nonsense way about her nursing that left her patients feeling safe and secure. Kathy loved being out in the yard doing yard work and gardening. She enjoyed camping, fishing, golfing and bowling. She considered her co-workers her “second family” and her cats were the loves of her life.
