Duane Cash Garton, 77, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at Lexington Regional Health Center.
He was born December 13, 1937, in Formosa, Kansas, to Raymond and Geneva (Shanks) Garton. He attended school in Hardy, Nebraska. He served his country in the United States Air Force from June 4, 1958, until being honorably discharged on June 19, 1962. Duane was united in marriage to Jaroldlea “Jeri” Leggott on December 16, 1962, at the Elwood Christian Church. Two children were born to this marriage; Jason and Jodi.
The family moved to Lexington in 1966, they would later move to the country in 2001. Duane spent 40 years working for Central Nebraska Public Power. He also was an electrician who worked on his own in the evenings and weekends, and delivered for Sears.
Duane enjoyed fishing, tinkering on olds cars, and other assorted tidbits, he was a hard worker. He never met a stranger, had a wonderful sense of humor and loved his family. He will be so very missed.
Survivors include his loving companion: Jeri Garton of Lexington, Nebraska; son, Jason (Barb) Garton of Lincoln, Nebraska; daughter, Jodi (Tom) Hoesel of Callaway, Nebraska; foster daughter, Ashlea (Cody) McFadden of Gardner, Kansas; sister, Beverly Blacksher of Scottsbluff, Nebraska; three grandchildren, Justin Hoesel and his fiancé, Brittany of Callaway, Nebraska, Jeremy Hoesel and Jenna Hoesel both of Callaway, Nebraska; four great-grandchildren, Remi, Piper, Michael, and Natalie. He is also survived by extended family and friends.
Duane was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Glenda; and, brother, Vernon.
A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, August 22, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Chapel in Lexington.
Visitation will be Friday, August 21, 2015, from 4-6 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Chapel. Duane’s body will be then be cremated following visitation.
Inurnment will be in the Robb Cemetery south of Lexington.
Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
