Chris S. “Junior” Davey, 23, of Lincoln, Nebraska, formerly of Overton, Nebraska, passed away Friday, July 3, 2015, in York, Nebraska.
Chris was born July 14, 1991, in Fort Lewis, Washington to Ron & Chris (Petersen) Davey. He attended school at Overton, Nebraska and graduated from Overton High School with the class of 2009. While in high school, Chris was involved in football, basketball & track. He attended Doane College where he played basketball and received his Bachelor’s Degree. He then went on to further his education at Wayne State College where he received his Master’s Degree in Exercise Science. Following his time in Wayne, Chris moved to Lincoln where he worked at Don BeeBe’s House of Speed. Chris was a speed/agility trainer and worked with the Lincoln Saltdogs.
Chris was an avid sports fan and loved the Oklahoma Sooners. While attending school at Wayne State College he played on the Rugby team which finished 5th at Nationals in Philadelphia. Chris was also instrumental in starting the Rugby team at Doane College. Being a trainer, Chris enjoyed staying in shape and working out. Chris also enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. Chris had a great sense of humor and a heart of gold. He will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his parents, Ron and Chris Davey of Overton, Nebraska, brother, Bradley Davey of Overton, Nebraska, the love of his life, Mandy DeRocha of Omaha, Nebraska, Grandparents, Wayne Petersen of Overton, Nebraska, Mary Davey of Moses Lake, Washington and Al and Francie Davey of Lind, Washington, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and many, many friends.
Chris was preceded in death by his grandmother, Connie Petersen
Funeral Services will be Thursday, July 9, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lexington with Pastor Rob Kuefner & Pastor Bill Ohlmann, officiating.
Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Overton Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 8, 2015 from 5-8 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.
Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
