Rodney D. Bamrick, 57, of Kearney, Nebraska, died Thursday, January 15, 2009, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney following a bout with cancer. He was just diagnosed shortly before Christmas.
He was born July 19, 1951, at Lexington, Nebraska, to Robert D. and Clarice (Eby) Bamrick.
Rod grew up at rural Overton, where he attended school and graduated from Overton High School with the class of 1969. He was united in marriage to Dianna M. Nelson, of Lexington, on April 25, 1970, at Lexington. The couple were blessed with two children; Niki and Patrick. Both Dianna and Patrick preceded Rod in death. He then was married to Pat Redlinger on September 2, 1995, at Lexington. Rod and Pat’s marriage ended in divorce.
Rod worked for quite a few years at Al’s Meat Market in Lexington, Simplot Soil Builders, and Monroe Auto in Cozad. He also farmed for his dad near Overton and then bought Beaver Creek Saloon in Elm Creek, which he and Pat owned and operated for 10 years. At the time of his death he was delivering the Kearney Hub newspaper.
Rodney was quite a character. Those who knew him well knew how he loved to tease and play jokes on his friends. He enjoyed bowling, playing cards, especially, Texas Hold’em, golfing, going to the casino, fishing and singing Karaoke. He so cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren and other family members. He will be so missed.
Survivors include his parents: Robert D. and Clarice Bamrick of Overton, Nebraska
One daughter: Niki & Eric Altwine of Bertrand, Nebraska
One brother: Robert L. & Nancy Bamrick of Overton, Nebraska
One sister: Karen & Lee Shafer of Overton, Nebraska
Four grandchildren: Dylan, Allie & Jessica Altwine and Bayley Bamrick.
He was also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Rodney was preceded in death by his grandparents; wife, Dianna and son, Patrick
Funeral Services will be Monday, January 19, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. at Elm Creek Christian Church in Elm Creek with Pastor Dean Pofahl officiating.
Burial will be in the Overton Cemetery at Overton, Nebraska.
Visitation will be held Sunday, January 18, 2009, from 2-4 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington.
Memorials are suggested to the Family for later designation.
