Yvonne Alice Warren, 79, of Johnson Lake, near Elwood, Nebraska, died Saturday, January 10, 2008, at Plum Creek Care Center in Lexington, Nebraska.
She was born October 7, 1929, at Cozad, Nebraska, to Charles and Alice (Haines) Rakestraw.
Yvonne attended school at Cozad until her junior year when the family moved to Wolbach, Nebraska. She graduated from Wolbach High School in 1947. She taught school for a few years and then went to work for Northwestern Bell. After that she worked as a nurse’s aide at Sandhills Manor in Broken Bow. Her last job was managing one of the Seldon apartment complexes in Omaha. On November 29, 1952, she was united in marriage to Giles “Jerry” Warren at Wolbach. The couple lived in Wolbach, Grand Island, Omaha and Broken Bow, moving to Johnson Lake almost 15 years ago.
She attended the Chapel of the Lake at Johnson Lake and enjoyed living at Johnson Lake, spending time with family, especially her grandchildren, and writing poetry.

Valarie Gartner of Paxton, Nebraska
Charlene Warren of Chicago, Illinois
Three sisters: Verna Miller of Chandler, Arizona
Myrna (Bob) Slattery of Grand Island, Nebraska
Janice Luther of Phoenix, Arizona
Eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Eugene and one brother-in-law, Bruce Miller.
The family has honored Yvonne’s wishes that her body be cremated.
A Family Memorial Service was held on Monday at Johnson Lake.
Memorials may be given to the Breast Cancer Foundation, Plum Creek Wel-Life Center or the family.
