Elizabeth Louise "Betty" Lovitt

Elizabeth L. “Betty” Lovitt, 87, of Oconto, Nebraska, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2015, at Madonna Rehabilitation Center in Lincoln, Nebraska. She was born July 22, 1927, at Eddyville, Nebraska, to John “Jack” and Millie (Spellmeyer) Fees. She attended school and graduated from Eddyville High School with the class of 1945. Betty was united in marriage to Louie Lovitt on June 5, 1946, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Eddyville. Four children were blessed to this marriage; Sherry, Coleen, Kim, and Robert Kent. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Hastings, Nebraska, where they worked for the Army Ordnance Plant. They returned to the Summer/Eddyville area where they farmed. In 1962 they then moved to the farm near Oconto, Nebraska. Betty was a devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed bowling, pitching for the softball team, playing horseshoes, cards, crocheting, cooking, and embroidery. She loved being outdoors, sharing her wonderful sense of humor and attending her grandchildren’s school activities. Betty will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oconto, as well as a member of the Altar Society. Survivors include her children; Sherry Jones of Eagle, Nebraska, Coleen Lovitt of Lincoln, Nebraska, Kim (Terri) Lovitt of Loomis, Nebraska, and Robert Kent Lovitt of Oconto, Nebraska, nine grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, special friend, Barb Sand and faithful companion, Zoey. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Louie; four sisters; one granddaughter, and two great-grandsons. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lexington, Nebraska. Visitation will be Monday, May 25, 2015, from 5-7 p.m. with Rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lexington. Memorials are suggested to the Oconto Fire & Rescue or the family for later designation. It was Betty’s desire her body be cremated following the service. Inurnment will be Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at Fort McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell, Nebraska. Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is assisting the family with arrangements.
