Lewis F. Stevenson, 81, of Lincoln, Nebraska passed away on May 5, 2015 at Bryan Health in Lincoln. Lewis was born December 24,1933 near Westerville, Nebraska to L.S. and Mary (Hallman) Stevenson. Lewis graduated from Westerville High School in 1952, where he participated in basketball and football. He was married to Louise Slingsby and 3 sons and 1 daughter were blessed to this marriage: C.L. of Grand Island, NE., Dan of Lincoln, Nebraska, Doug and wife Jana of Grand Island, Ne. and Kay and husband Tim Hansen of Seward, Nebraska. Lewis was united in marriage to Barbara Pittenger on July 9, 1981. He had 2 step daughters; Pam and husband Larry Hidy of Kearney, Nebraska and Brenda Sonksen of Lincoln, Nebraska Lewis served his country in the US Navy from October 17, 1952 to September 21, 1956. He was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church and current member of Messiah Lutheran in Lincoln, Ne. He worked at Lexington Livestock for 37 years, where he was an auctioneer and yard manager. Lewis was preceded in death by his parents, brother Dick, Grandsons Bo and Nate, step daughter Deb and step Grand daughter Hilary. Lewis is survived by his wife, Barbara, his 4 children, 2 step children, 11 grandchildren, 7 great- grand Children, 2 sisters; Rita of North Platte, Nebraska and Sue of Broken Bow, Nebraska as well as extended family and friends. Memorial Services will be held on Friday, May 8, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lexington, Ne. Pastor Rod Kuefner and Pastor Bill Ohlman will be officiating. Inurnment with Military honors will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington. In Lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials to the family for later designation.
