Mary Ann Moritz, 69, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at CHI Good Samaritan-Kearney.
Mary Ann was born February 24, 1946, in Kearney, Nebraska, to Milfred L. and Sylvia I. (Reier) Keyser. She grew up in Sumner and graduated from Sumner High School with the class of 1964. Following graduation she moved to Lexington where she worked for Pee Wee Warren Insurance.
She married Gary Moritz on October 5, 1967, in Lexington, Nebraska. Two children were blessed to this marriage; Todd and Kristi. When Todd was just a baby, and Gary enlisted in the Navy, the family moved to Englewood, California. She worked in a Civil Service job in Long Beach, California on the Naval base. The family returned to Lexington in May of 1971. She went to work for Reach Electronics, and then the USDA Rural Development Association for over 20 years. She retired in 2007.
Mary Ann was a member of the Lexington High School Athletic Booster Club, a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary, but the association she held closest to her heart was the Lexington Baseball Association. She spent countless hours organizing and volunteering for American Legion baseball. She loved seeing “her” boys play ball and that any boy who wanted to participate had the opportunity.
She enjoyed playing cribbage, crossword puzzles and computer games. But, most especially, she loved watching her grandsons grow up and attend their activities. She also enjoyed her Friday lunch with the ladies. Family was so important to Mary Ann and she will be so very missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her husband of nearly 48 years, Gary Moritz of Lexington, Nebraska, son, Todd Moritz of Lexington, Nebraska, and daughter and son-in-law, Kristi & Kenny Moyer of Lexington, Nebraska, two grandsons, Trever Miller and special friend Grace Ecklund of Norfolk, Nebraska, and Lane Miller of Baytown, Texas; four brothers, Bill (Carol) Keyser of Ord, Nebraska, Mick (Jacque) Keyser of Clear Lake, Iowa, Jerry (Kathy) Burr of Sumner, Nebraska, and, David (Barb) Burr of Eddyville, Nebraska; one sister, Janet (Gene) Beerbohm of Kearney, Nebraska; also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
