Donald John Reinhard

Donald J. Reinhard, 83, of Callaway, Nebraska, passed away Sunday, April 12, 2015, in his birthplace community of Callaway, Nebraska. Don was born on March 13, 1932. He was the oldest of seven children born to the parents of John and Maxine (Shipley Moore) Reinhard. Don graduated from Callaway High School with the class of 1950. On February 14, 1952, Don enlisted in the Navy. He served during the Korean War where he was stationed in Okinawa, Japan, or on a destroyer ship in the Pacific Ocean. He was honorably discharged on February 14, 1956. On March 3, 1957, Don married Nadine Sanders in Kimball, Nebraska. He always had a special interest in the land and the crops it produced. He fulfilled this interest by running a diversified farm and livestock operation on the land that has been in his family for now over one hundred years. Don was active in the community by serving on several boards including the Callaway Public School Board, Delight Township Board, and the Farmer's Elevator. He was a member of the Callaway United Methodist Church and the Callaway America Legion. Survivors include his wife, son Tony (Vicki) of Denver, Colorado, daughter Susan (Ronald) Birnie of White Lake, Michigan. Four grandsons, Tony (Katie) Reinhard of Woodstock, Georgia, Donald Reinhard of New York City, New York, Tyler Birnie of South Lyon, Michigan and Logan Birnie of White Lake, Michigan. Three great- grandchildren, Ava, D.J., and Declan. Brothers Keith Reinhard, Karl (MaryJane) Reinhard and, sisters Virginia Gardner and Barbara Psota. Preceding him in death were his parents, brothers, Garry Reinhard, Loyal Reinhard and brothers-in-law, Delbert Sanders and Jerrold Gardner. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at United Methodist Church in Callaway with Reverend Chad Boling officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 14, 2015, from 5-7 p.m. at the Timm-Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Callaway. Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association, the Nebraska Heart Institute, or the charity of your choice.
