Elberta G. Brummet, 78, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away Friday, February 27, 2015, at Plum Creek Healthcare Community in Lexington.
She was born March 4, 1936, in Eustis, Nebraska, to Albert and Gertrude (Naumann) Naumann. Elberta attended school and graduated from Eustis High School with the class of 1954.
Elberta was united in marriage to Robert Brummet on December 29, 1957, in Lexington, Nebraska. Four children were blessed to this marriage; Bryan, Jeffrey, Michelle and Sheryl. After the couple was married, they traveled extensively while Bob was in the Navy. They lived in Norfolk, VA, Battle Creek, MI, El Cajon and San Diego, CA. They returned to Lexington in 1972.
Elberta worked as a dispatcher for the Lexington Police Department and spent many years as the Librarian at the Lexington Public Library. She retired in 2006. Elberta’s love was Genealogy. She was a member of the Dawson County Genealogical Society and helped other families gather information regarding their ancestors. She was also a member of Grace Lutheran Church, the Nebraska Library Association and the Nebraska United Motorcycle International Club. She was in the first class of women Scoutmasters in the State of California. Elberta remained active in scouting until her grand
children were grown.
She loved being with family and growing beautiful flowers. She moved to Park Avenue Estates in April of 2012, and then to Plum Creek Healthcare Community in August of 2014. She will be so missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her children; Bryan (Deb) Brummet of Rapid City, SD, Jeffrey (Nancy) Brummet of Lexington, NE, Michelle Martinez of Grand Island, NE, and Sheryl (Scott) Brown of Lexington, NE; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; as well as extended family and many friends.
Elberta was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Bob.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Lexington with Vicar Joshua Stibb officiating.
Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery at Lexington.
Visitation will be held Monday, March 2, 2015, from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington.
