Ronald G. "Ron" Hutchinson

Ronald G. “Ron” Hutchinson, 63, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away Friday, February 13, 2015, at Plum Creek Healthcare Community in Lexington. Ron was born August 22, 1951, in El Reno, Oklahoma, to Paul and Anna (Howard) Hutchinson. As a young man he moved to be with his father in California. He graduated in 1970, from Chino High School in Chino, California. Following graduation he joined the United States Marine Corps, but only served a year because he developed shoulder problems. He was united in marriage to Gail Neben on July 15, 1973, in Sumner, Nebraska. Two children were blessed to this marriage; Clinton and Teresa. The family lived in Overton, Nebraska for 11 years and then Lexington, Nebraska for 8 years. While living in Overton and Lexington, Ron was proud to serve on both Volunteer Fire Departments. It was during his time on the Overton department that he saved a fellow firefighter’s life during a house fire. He thought of his fellow firemen as brothers, a bond that lasted until his death. While living in Overton he worked for Sperry New Holland and when the plant closed in Lexington he worked for the Omaha World Herald. Ron and his family moved to Glenwood Springs, Colorado in the early 1990’s. Ron returned to Nebraska where he went to work for Cabela’s. This career took him to several states where he worked his way up to Manager. He retired in approximately 2006, due to health problems. Ron loved to fish and hunt, and enjoyed being a member of the fire departments as well as the Bass Club. He was quite the teaser, had a great sense of humor and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Survivors include his two children; Clinton Hutchinson and wife, Mary Portillo of Jakarta, Indonesia, Teresa Soltis and Mark Dones of Imperial, Nebraska; brother, Paul Michael and wife Terri Hutchinson of Saginaw, Michigan, five grandchildren, MacKenzie, Chloe, Andrea, Nicholas and Oliver; two aunts, Jeanette Hutchinson of Kearney, Nebraska and Pat and husband Don Wonderly of Bethany, Oklahoma; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Ron was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Shirley and uncle, Jack Hutchinson; and, stepfather, Jerry Turner. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, February 18, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Chapel in Lexington with Reverend Dr. Dyton Owen officiating. Burial will be in the Overton Cemetery at Overton, Nebraska. Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 17, 2015, from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Chapel in Lexington.
