John Paul “Jack” Wallace, age 78 of Nebraska City passed away on
Thanksgiving Day; November 27, 2008 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Nebraska
City.
He was born on January 25, 1930 at Eddyville, NE; the son of Edward A.
and Mabel E. (Sell) Wallace. He attended school and graduated from the
Sumner High School at Sumner, NE.
He was united in marriage to Darlene Larsen on November 20, 1954 at St.
Patrick’s Catholic Church in Eddyville; and to this union four children
were born: Deborah, Kathleen, Patricia and Jeffrey.
Jack was a cattle rancher and farmer until he retired in 1989. He was
a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nebraska City, NE; the
Knights of Columbus, and achieved the rank of Captain in the National
Guard giving 20 years of service to the Guard. He loved the land, was
an avid nature lover and was very interested in genealogy. He will be
greatly missed by all whose lives he touched!
He is survived by his wife Darlene of Nebraska City, NE; daughters:
Deborah Huff and husband Terry of York, NE, Kathleen Frost and husband
Tom of Chandler, AZ, Patricia Wilmes and husband Mike of Lincoln, NE
and Jeffrey Wallace of Ft. Collins, CO; Ten grandchildren: Casey,
Courtney and Spencer Huff, Melissa and Drew Frost, Jordan, Jacob and
Abigail Wilmes, Savanna and Jack Wallace; one great-grandson Dylan
Frost; brothers: Robert Wallace and wife Phyllis of Tucson, AZ, James
Wallace of Loveland, CO, Charles Wallace and wife Lou Ann of
Alamogordo, NM; sisters: Ruth Kresser of Kearney, NE and Norma Eby of
Overton, NE; numerous nieces and nephews, other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 10:30 a.m. at St.
Patrick’s Catholic Church in Eddyville, NE with Fr. Jose Chavez
celebrating the Mass. Inurnment in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery
will be held at a later date. A rosary will be recited Tuesday at
10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Eddyville.
A prayer service and visitation will also be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday
(11/30) at the Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City.
