Atta M. McCarty, 97, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Wednesday, January 21, 2015, at Park Avenue Estates in Lexington. She was born December 2, 1917, in Bingham, Nebraska, to Harry and Lena (Kemp) Finn. Atta attended Garden County Rural Schools. She grew up in Garden County, Nebraska, later moving to Kearney, Nebraska where she met Wilson (Mac) McCarty. They were united in marriage on January 10, 1945, in Kearney, Nebraska. One son was blessed to this marriage: James Allen. Atta and Wilson joined the Nash Finch Company where they were transferred to Lexington. They had made their home in Lexington ever since. Atta was a Clerk and Bookkeeper at Jack & Jill’s for twenty seven years. She then worked at Hennek’s for nine years and before Atta retired she worked at Barmores in Lexington. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Lexington. Atta is survived by her son James Allen McCarty and wife Carla L. Rueckert - McCarty of Anchorage, Kentucky; Sister Margaret Kostman of Arthur, Nebraska; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Atta was preceded in death by her parents, husband Mac in 1998 and a brother; Glenn. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, January 28, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Lexington with Reverend Caroline Vickery, officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 27, 2015, from 5-7 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington. Memorials are suggested the Lexington Volunteer Fire Department Or Donor’s Choice. Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is in charge of arrangements.
