Leonard G. "Lenny" Nelsen

Leonard G. “Lenny” Nelsen, Jr., 57, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away Thursday, January 15, 2015, at Lexington Regional Health Center. He was born February 6, 1957, in Fremont, Nebraska to Leonard G. and Joan (Momany) Nelsen, Sr. When he was 5 years old his mother passed away and he and his siblings were placed in the Masonic Home for Children in Fremont. Lenny attended grade school and graduated from Fremont High School in 1975. Lenny moved to Lexington in 1976. He was married to Pamela Liehs and two daughters were born to this marriage; Stephanie and Khristine. He then married Shelly Murdoch and two daughters were born to this marriage; Jennifer and Kyla. He then had a long-term relationship with Deb Franklin and welcomed Deb’s children; Sonya, Sandy, Samantha, and P.J. In December of 2013, he married Linda Yost in Elwood, Nebraska and welcomed her two children, Sara and Gus and their families. Lenny moved to Lexington where he worked for Liehs Drilling, Nebraska Plastics and Co-op, until his health prevented him from working any longer. Anyone who knew Lenny, knew he had a heart of gold. He would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need. He loved a good laugh, and always had a ton of fun in whatever he was doing. He loved his family, his extended family and his many friends. He enjoyed carpentry work, football, fantasy football, NASCAR, softball and golf. Heaven has gained an angel and he will be forever missed. Survivors include his wife; Linda Nelsen of Lexington, Nebraska; children; P.J. (Glenda) Oyler of Lexington, Nebraska, Gus Adams and Dawn Bourbon of Kearney, Nebraska, Sonya Arbogast of Kearney, Nebraska, Stephanie Nelsen, Khristine Nelsen of Denver, Colorado, Sara (Leo) Gil of Lexington, Nebraska, Samantha Oyler of Omaha, Nebraska, Jennifer (Jerod) Weber of Bertrand, Nebraska, Kyla Nelsen and Kenneth Leak of Lincoln, Nebraska; two brothers, Don Nelsen and Barb Scheppers of Fremont, Nebraska, and Ron Nelsen of Fremont, Nebraska; two sisters, Jackie Lee of Fremont, Nebraska and Karen Johnson and Brian Parker of New Lenox, Illinois; special parents; Duane (Jeri) Garton of Lexington, Nebraska; ten grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. Lenny was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Larry; partner, Deb Franklin and her daughter, Sandy Oyler. It was Lenny’s wishes his body be cremated. There will be no visitation. A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held Monday, January 19, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at LexChristian Church in Lexington with Pastor Doug Reed officiating. Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation. Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is assisting the family with arrangements.
