Wilbur M. Gall

June 22, 1918 — November 19, 2014

Wilbur M. Gall, 96, of rural Eustis, Nebraska, passed away Wednesday, November 19, 2014, at Park Avenue Estates in Lexington, Nebraska. He was born June 22, 1918, at home near Eustis, to Albert and Anna (Fischer) Gall. He attended school in Eustis, graduating in 1936 from Eustis High School. Wilbur served his country in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII. He served from December 9, 1941, until being honorably discharged on December 23, 1945. While stationed in Fort Wayne, Indiana, he met the love of his life, Ann Kassabian. They married June 20, 1944, in Miami, Florida. Two sons were blessed to this marriage; Clark and Matthew. Following the war, Wilbur returned to the farm with his new wife where he resided his entire life until he moved to Park Avenue Estates in 2012. Wilbur loved the farm, especially the animals. His instinct was spot-on when it came to his cattle; he could tell a good bull from a mile. He trained both cattle dogs and farm cats to heed his commands and knew the routines and habitats of countless species of wildlife. Wilbur’s love of music, shaped by his experience playing the base horn in the 571st Army Air Forces Band, lasted his entire life. He entertained audiences with his piano solos at church, the Eustis Senior Center, and various area nursing homes, and often accompanied his grandchildren and great-grandchildren in their performances. He enjoyed a good game of chess and spending time with his family, especially the great-grandchildren. Wilbur was a faithful member of United Methodist Church in Eustis and the American Legion. Wilbur is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Clark (Janice) Gall of Eustis, Nebraska; two grandchildren, Kara (Srini) of Lincoln, Nebraska and Rachel (Ross) of Cozad, Nebraska; four great-grandchildren, Lydia, Colton, Bentley, and Grayson; and many extended family and friends. Wilbur was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ann, and his son Matthew. The family has honored Wilbur’s wishes for cremation. There will be no visitation. A Memorial Celebration of Life will be Saturday, November 22, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at United Methodist Church in Eustis with Reverend Neil Kloppenborg officiating. Inurnment will held prior for family only in the Eustis Cemetery with Full Military honors graveside. Memorials are suggested to the Eustis Senior Center or United Methodist Church. Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is assisting the family with arrangements. Please share online condolences with the family by visiting: reynoldslovefuneralhome.com.
