Ila Marie Volk, 93, of Cozad, Nebraska, died Wednesday, October 22, 2008, at Meadowlark Pointe in Cozad, Nebraska.
She was born December 9, 1914, in Dawson County, Nebraska, near Darr, to Charles and Alma (Selk) Wisemiller. She moved with her family as a young child to Overton, Nebraska, where she attended school and graduated from Overton high school with the class of 1932. Ila was awarded several awards for being the oldest alumnus to return to her high school class reunions.
Ila was united in marriage to Lawrence Volk on June 1, 1938, at Lexington, Nebraska. Three children were blessed to this marriage; Larry, Peggy and Charles.
Ila was a faithful member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church and past president of the Altar Society. She was also a member of the Friendly Neighbor’s Extension Club since the 1950’s, a past 4-H leader and past member of District #16 school board. Ila spent many years making area women beautiful by being their “Avon lady” and spent over 18 years in Avon’s President’s club.
She was a wonderful seamstress, cook and gardener. Ila was an avid sport’s fan; she loved her Nebraska Cornhuskers and Kansas City Royals. She will be so very missed.

Chuck & Beverly Volk of Cozad, Nebraska
One daughter: Peggy Welsh of Topeka, Kansas
One sister-in-law: Mary Jane Wisemiller of Lincoln, Nebraska
Seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two nephews and one niece.
Ila was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lawrence; two brothers, Carl and Robert and son-in-law, John Welsh.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, October 25, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lexington, Nebraska with Reverends Paul Colling and Don O’Brien, con-celebrating.
Burial will be in the St. Ann’s Catholic Cemetery at Lexington.
Visitation will be held Friday, October 24, 2008, from 5-7 p.m. with Rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. all at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.
