Helen F. “Red” Yeutter, 86, of Elwood, Nebraska, formerly of Lexington, passed away Monday, September 29, 2014, at Elwood Care Center in Elwood, Nebraska.
Helen was born October 1, 1927, in Red Cloud, Nebraska to John and Ethel (Houchin) Wickersham. She moved with her family as a young girl to Cozad, Nebraska and this is where she attended school. She dropped out of school at a young age to help her father with the farming and putting up hay. She worked in the beet fields before she was married. On July 28, 1946, she was united in marriage to Dale Yeutter, at Norton, Kansas. Two children were blessed to this marriage; Ed and Linda.
Helen had so many loves and the most important was her family. She was always a hard worker, having worked weighing trucks for Terry Crawford and other farm related jobs. She worked ten years for Sperry New Holland, a job she considered her favorite. She also drove school bus for the Lexington Public Schools, and farmed with Dale.
She enjoyed coffee with friends and socializing with neighbors. Christmas was her favorite time of year! She enjoyed the holidays as it brought family and friends together at this special time. Helen loved all sports, she especially enjoyed her bowling league gals and the camaraderie they shared, putting together puzzles, and being outdoors. She was a “caretaker” in every sense of the word and made everyone feel important and comfortable. Helen you will be missed.
