Louise W Dannehl, 68, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away Monday, September 1, 2014, at her home near Lexington. She was born February 6, 1946, at Lexington, to Niles “Spike” and Orbia P. (Gosnell) Wallace. Louise attended school at Lexington and graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1964. Louise went on to complete her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Special Education from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. She spent her entire career as an educator working with kids with special needs. For the first half of her career she lived in Bradshaw, Nebraska, where she taught special education. On July 17, 1993, she was united in marriage to Jerry Dannehl at York, Nebraska. Her two sons, Ed and Bob and Jerry’s two sons, Troy and Cory, were united together and a new family was formed. Following the marriage she moved home and joined Cozad’s Diagnostic Resource Center (now the Assistive Technology Partnership) as a Regional Coordinator, a position from which she retired in 2008. In retirement she enjoyed playing bridge, gardening, being with friends, spending time with grandkids and other family, as well as church activities. She enjoyed her involvement in PEO, and was active in Chapter AN. Louise was a member of Chapter AN P.E.O., First Presbyterian Church, Delta Gamma, State Advisory Council for Exceptional Children and a Certified Conflict Mediator. Louise is survived by her husband, Jerry of Lexington; sons, Ed Wiley and Bob Wiley; and Troy Dannehl and Cory Dannehl; brother, Bill Wallace and sister, Jean McIntosh; as well as 5 grandchildren, and 5 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. The family has honored Louise’s wishes for cremation. Register Book Signing will take place Thursday, September 4, 2014, from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington. Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held Friday, September 5, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Lexington with Reverend Caroline Vickery officiating. P.E.O. Rites by Chapter AN, Lexington. Inurnment will be held at a later time. Memorials are designated to Dawson County Relay for Life.
