Teri Jo Benham, 50, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away Friday, August 8, 2014, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney with her family by her side.
Teri Jo was born February 15, 1964, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to William Frances and Margaret Rose (Shaw) Rogers. She moved to Overton with her mother and two sisters, where she attended Overton High School.
She married Don Benham on December 26, 1981, in Overton, Nebraska. Three children were blessed to this marriage; Brandi Jo, Ashley Gail and Joshua Ray.
The family lived outside of Lexington and she worked for Marshall Engines in Kearney from 1999 until May of 2013.
Teri Jo loved being a mother and grandmother. Her family was her pride and joy. She enjoyed cooking and spent many hours watching the Cooking channel and creating new and exciting dishes for friends and family. She had an “open door” policy at the house and welcomed everyone with open arms and treated all like family. She also loved her four-legged friends and usually had a couple as members of the family.
She was diagnosed with Advanced Stage-4 colon cancer in May of 2014. She always remained strong and optimistic that she would overcome her cancer. Teri Jo will always be remembered as a kind, loving girl who will be so dearly missed.
She is survived by her husband, Don Benham of Lexington, Nebraska; one son, Joshua Ray and fiancée Ashley Schubert of Overton, Nebraska; two daughters, Brandi Jo Benham of Overton, Nebraska and Ashley Gail Branstiter of Lexington, Nebraska; seven grandchildren; twins, Gavin James and Jonathan Robertson; Riley Joseph Todd; Hunter Lee Branstiter; Noah Duane Benham; Madisyn Raelynn Houser and Emersyn Jaelynn Benham; three brothers; Robbie McShan of Wakefield, Nebraska, Andy and wife Kathy Combs of Tucson, Arizona; and, Bill Rogers of Vermont; two sisters, Jackie Vassar of Wakefield, Nebraska; and, Jeri and husband Stanley Underwood of Lexington, Nebraska; her best friend; Gerri and husband Mike Franks of Gibbon, Nebraska; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Teri Jo was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Wanda Weeder and Mikki Ashcraft; nephew, Andy Weeder; great-nephew, Nathan Wilson and brother-in-law, Melvin Benham.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, August 13, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Chapel in Lexington with Pastor Paul Pack officiating.
Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 12, 2014, from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington.
