James Evan Luft, 29, of Gibbon, Nebraska, formerly of Lexington, died Friday, August 1, 2014, as a result of a vehicle accident north of Kearney, Nebraska.
He was born September 7, 1984, in Grand Island, Nebraska, to Vern & Peggy Ann (Nathan) Luft.
James attended elementary school at Sandoz and graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 2003. He then went on to further his education at Wyoming Technical Auto body and Restoration in Laramie, Wyoming. Following his schooling he moved to Lincoln where he worked at Kawasaki. James then returned to Lexington where he worked at the Ethanol Plant and Tyson Fresh Meats. He then moved to Columbus where he worked at Cargill. James also worked at Schuyler in the maintenance department. He was presently working at Eaton’s in Kearney at the time of his death, where he was a member of the Eaton Fire Brigade.
James had many interests, but nothing more important to him than his sons, Jett and Jacob. He loved dogs, hunting, working in the yard, camping, being outdoors, fishing, Harley Davidson motorcycles and spending time with family. James had a huge heart, a smile that could light up the room and will forever be remembered.
He was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lexington.
James is survived by his father and stepmother; Vern and Jody Luft of Lexington, Nebraska; his companion since 2008, and the mother of the boys; Cynthia Soto of Gibbon, Nebraska; sons; Jett & Jacob Luft of Gibbon, Nebraska; one brother, Jason Luft of Lexington, Nebraska; grandmother, Gilda Luft of David City, Nebraska; grandfather, Rupert and wife Bernita Nathan of Fullerton, Nebraska; aunts & uncles, Greg and wife Pam Nathan of Lincoln, Nebraska, Susie and husband Scott Zaruba of Norfolk, Nebraska, Tim Nathan of Hastings, Nebraska, James and wife Sue Beck of Gulfport, Mississippi, Lila Luft of Lincoln, Nebraska, Bethene and husband Mark Ralph of Bellwood, Nebraska & Russell Luft of Grand Island, Nebraska; many step-brothers, step-sisters, other relatives and many, many friends.
James was preceded in death by his mother Peggy, grandmother, Rose Nathan; grandfather, Vernon Luft; aunt Wilma Kay Luft & uncle Gary Lee Luft.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, August 6, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lexington with Reverend Neal Nollette officiating. The Casket will be closed.
Memorial Book Signing and visiting with the family will be Tuesday, August 5, 2014, from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.
Burial will be at 4:00 p.m. in the Fullerton Cemetery at Fullerton, Nebraska.
Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
