Marjorie M. Blevins, 84, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Friday, July 25, 2014, at Plum Creek Healthcare Community in Lexington.
She was born November 22, 1929, in Cozad, Nebraska, to Peter H. and Sylvia (Larsen) Viig. Marjorie was a 1948 graduate of Lexington High School. Following High School Marjorie was active in farming, feeding livestock and riding tractors.
Marjorie was united in marriage to G. Gordon Blevins on May 7, 1950, in Lexington, Nebraska. The marriage was blessed with two daughters, Pamela & Janette.
Marjorie was a lifetime resident of the Lexington/Cozad area. After working on the farm Marjorie would become a secretary at Plum Creek Medical Group and before she retired she worked almost twenty years as a bookkeeper for Don Ondrak.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Danish Sisters & a 4-H leader.
Marjorie loved sewing, crocheting, knitting & quilting. She enjoyed photography and was an avid Nebraska Cornhusker football fan. Marjorie also had a knack for working with computers. She was able to keep up with the new technology even into her early 80’s.
Marjorie is survived by her two daughters; Pam and husband Tom Day of Gretna, Nebraska and Janette Blevins of Lexington, Nebraska; four grandchildren, Tom and wife Lena Day of Germany, Daniel and wife Alexia Day of Norfolk, Virginia, Jason and wife Leslie Day of Omaha, Nebraska & Jessica and husband Todd Schmitt of Pacific Junction, Iowa; seven great-grandchildren, Michael, Gabriella, Tyler, Todd, Oliver, Zach & Kytrin; One sister, Elaine and husband Bill Karr of Greeley, Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gordon, brother Vernon and sister-in-law Jean Viig; sister Berniece Kimball & brother-in-law Ben Kimball.
Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Lexington with Reverend Caroline Vickery officiating.
Private Interment will be prior to Memorial Service at Robb Cemetery south of Lexington.
There will be no visitation.
Memorials are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church or Lexington Volunteer Fire Department.
