Thelma F. Eland, 84, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Friday, August 29, 2008, at Tri-County Hospital in Lexington. She was born September 30, 1923, at Fairbury, Nebraska, to Joseph and Flossa (Randall) Lesher. Thelma grew up in the Fairbury area and attended school at Fairbury. She was united in marriage to Thomas Eland on October 12, 1940, at Washington, Kansas. Two daughters were blessed to this union; Susan and Glory. The couple moved around quite a bit during their married years; living in, Kansas, Colorado, California and Nebraska. While living in Lexington early on, Thelma worked for Cornland Hotel for 7 years. When they were living in Denver, she worked for 10 years at Product Development Company, distributing phone books and eventually working in the office. They returned to Lexington and retired in 1980. Thelma enjoyed retirement. The couple loved spending time with their family. Thelma enjoyed crocheting, doing crafts, reading and sewing. She always had a smile on her face and a kind word for everybody she met. Thelma will be so very missed. She is survived by her husband of nearly 68 years: Thomas Eland of Lexington, Ne. Two daughters: Susan M. (Alfred) Lincoln of Kearney, Nebraska Glory J. (Frank) Henigan of Lexington, Nebraska Two sisters: Josephine Duggan of Fairbury, Nebraska Charlotte Snow of Lincoln, Nebraska Two brothers: Joseph Lesher, Jr. of Delhi, Iowa Danny Lesher of Loveland, Colorado Eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren, as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Marie and one brother, Franklin. It was Thelma’s wishes that her body be cremated. A Private Memorial Service will be held for Family members only. Inurnment of her cremains will be held at Fort McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell, Nebraska at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the Lexington Volunteer Fire Department. Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is in charge of arrangements.
