Eloy "Chon" Sanchez Yepez

Eloy “Chon” Sanchez Yepez, 52, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away Monday, July 7, 2014, of cancer at his home in Lexington surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 29, 1961, in Villachuato, Michoacan, Mexico, to J. Jesus and Benita (Yepez) Sanchez. Eloy moved to the United States as a young man to work in the fields in California. He was united in marriage to Gloria Laguna on April 15, 1993, in Villachuato, Michoacan, Mexico. Two children were blessed to this marriage; Victor and Yoselin. Eloy, Gloria and baby Victor moved to Lexington in 1994, where Eloy went to work for IBP, now Tyson, in Slaughter. He continued to work until his health forced him to quit. He loved his family and his children were his world. Eloy also enjoyed horse racing, soccer, and going to the casino. He was a hard-working man who will be so very missed. He is survived by his wife; Gloria of Lexington; his children; Victor and Yoselin both at home in Lexington; one brother; Gustavo Sanchez of Villachuato, Mexico; six sisters; Anita Sanchez of Mexico City, Mexico; Lupe Sanchez of Guadalajara, Mexico; Rebeca Sanchez of Lexington, Nebraska; Maria Sanchez of Sioux City, Iowa; Olivia Sanchez of Marshalltown, Iowa; and, Celina Sanchez of Marshalltown, Iowa; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends and co-workers. Eloy was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Ramiro Sanchez; one sister, Josefina Sanchez; half-brother, Manuel and half-sister, Audelia. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, July 10, 2014, at 3:30 p.m. St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lexington with Reverend Jorge Canela officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 9, 2014, from 5-7 p.m. with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church. Burial will be held at a later date in Cementerio El Descanso in Villachuato, Michoacan, Mexico. Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is assisting the family with arrangements.
