Dennis L. O’Connor, Jr., 80, of rural Lexington, Nebraska, passed away following a stroke on Friday, June 20, 2014, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
He was born October 3, 1933, in Plattsburg, Missouri, to Dennis L. and Mary Ellen (Golden) O’Connor, Sr. He moved with his family as a young boy in 1939, to Lexington, when his father entered into the cattle feeding business Burns, O'Connor and Skinner. He lived and worked at the feedyard until 1959 when he and his mother bought the farm east of Lexington. Dennis remained living at the farm the rest of his life. He loved raising cattle but his passion was the horses. Dennis loved watching and participating in rodeos, spending time with friends and family, working hard, telling and listening to stories, eating ice cream, and laughing.
DENNIS REALLY LIVED.
He will be greatly missed and remembered by all.
Dennis is survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; as well as his sisters Mary Julia and husband Earl Hoffman, Betty and husband John Lawless, and Kate and husband Richard Seberger.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lexington with Reverend Neal Nollette officiating.
Burial will be in the St. Ann’s Catholic Cemetery at Lexington.
Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, June 24, 2014, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington.
Memorials are suggested to St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Lexington Volunteer Fire Department or the Donor’s Choice.
