Alice M. Wenburg, 74, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away Thursday, May 29, 2014, at Plum Creek Healthcare Community in Lexington. She was born September 10, 1939, in Smithfield, Nebraska, to Frank and Dorothy (Woodside) Schwarz. Alice attended school in Lexington. She was united in marriage to Floyd A. Wenburg on May 12, 1956, in Lexington. Four sons were blessed to this marriage; Dale, Clayton, Tim and Alton. Alice was a one-of-a-kind lady who never knew a stranger and always had a huge smile on her face and a hug for everyone. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she was a Sunday School Teacher as well as a Bible School Teacher for many years. She was active in the Lexington Christian Women’s Club and Dawson County Relay for Life. Alice had a huge collection of Salt & Pepper Shakers, loved crafts, children, as she was known as Aunt Alice by many, she loved cats, and was also known as “Granny Flash” as she carried 3 cameras in her purse at all times. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend to all who knew her. She will be so very missed. She is survived by three sons; Clayton (Susie) Wenburg of Lexington, Nebraska; Tim Wenburg of Lexington, Nebraska; and, Alton (Jodi) Wenburg of Cozad, Nebraska; six grandchildren, Erin Copper of Lexington, Nebraska, Ethan and wife Stephanie Wenburg of Lexington, Nebraska; Joshua Wenburg, Courtney Wenburg and Morgan Wenburg of Cozad, Nebraska; and, Matt Sommer of Lexington, Nebraska; two great-grandchildren; Alyssa and Christian Copper as well as one on the way; one sister, Martha (Wally) Hubbard of Lexington, Nebraska; three brothers, Martin “Mike” Schwarz of Lexington, Nebraska; Kenny (Shirley) Schwarz of Elwood, Nebraska; and, Eugene (Nancy) Schwarz of Ft. Collins, Colorado; three sisters-in-law; Phyllis Schwarz of Loveland, Colorado; Judy Schwarz of Lexington, Nebraska; and Cindy Schwarz of Arapahoe, Nebraska; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Tom and Margie Nelson of Lexington, Nebraska; and sister-in-law, ReNelda Wenburg of Cozad, Nebraska; two brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law, Kenneth (Juanita) Wenburg of Elm Creek, Nebraska; and, Ken Statler of Desert Center, California; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Alice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Floyd in 2007; son, Dale in 1977; five brothers, Harry, Carl, Robert, Raymond and Keith; and sister-in-law, Sandra Schwarz. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lexington with Pastor Rob Kuefner officiating. Burial will be in the Cozad Cemetery at Cozad. Visitation will be Monday, June 2, 2014, from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington. Memorials are suggested to the Family for later designation.
