Edna Helen St. John

Edna H. St. John, 93, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Friday, July 25, 2008, at Park Avenue Estates in Lexington. She was born March 27, 1915, at Lexington, Nebraska, to William F. and Effie E. (Perkins) Passage. Edna was a lifetime resident of Lexington and graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1932. She was united in marriage to Robert W. St. John on January 12, 1935, at Elwood, Nebraska. The marriage was blessed with two sons; Gerald “Jake” and Paul. Edna was a stay-at-home mother until her boys were in school and then she began her career as a secretary/bookkeeper for the Lexington Locker Plant, J.M. McDonald Store and then as Administrative Assistant to the Lexington School Superintendent. She spent 28 years in this position, retiring in 1985. She was a member of Lexington Christian Church where she belonged to the Women’s Council and taught Sunday school. She was also a past member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society and the Lexington Women’s Club. Edna enjoyed being a homemaker and spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed quilting, painting, flowers, but most especially, spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include one son: Paul (Laraine) St. John of Lexington, Nebraska Daughter-in-law: Imogene St. John of Lexington, Nebraska Five grandchildren: Kelly (Mike) Forde of Dallas, Texas; Kim (Rick) Sheldon of Kearney, Nebraska; Scott St. John of Cozad, Nebraska; Lonna (Reg) Dallman of Kearney, Nebraska; Jody (Ryne) Norton of York, Nebraska. Eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Edna was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert in 1981; one son, Jake; a stepdaughter, LaRae Clark; and three sisters, Patricia Shaw, Grace Brown and Esther Phillippi. Services will be held Wednesday, July 30, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at Lexington Christian Church in Lexington with Pastor K.C. BeDunnah officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 29, 2008, from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. at Reynolds-Love in Lexington. Memorials to the Lexington Christian Church or the Donor’s Choice.
