Sandra C. Morris, 70, of Omaha, Nebraska, former Lexington resident, passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at Hospice House in Omaha.
She was born September 14, 1943, in Hollywood, California to Marjorie Gaskill and Gerald Kerr, but was raised by her stepfather, Nathan Peters. She moved to Dodge City, Kansas as a young girl, where she graduated high school in 1962. Following graduation she married Kenneth Zink and two children were born to this marriage; Angela and Jeffrey. The marriage ended in divorce. She then married the love of her life Morris Lee Morris on August 9, 1985, in Las Vegas, Nevada. She welcomed Morris’s two sons, Jammie and Jimmie to the family. She also furnished a home for foster children throughout the years.
Sandra obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Houston University and then went on to further her education at nursing school in Dodge City, where she obtained her RN.
Sandra loved nursing and worked in several hospitals and care facilities throughout the years. She taught nursing at Valle Grande School in Weslago, Texas. The couple moved to Omaha in September of 2013. She was diagnosed with liver cancer four weeks ago. She spent the last week at Hospice House in Omaha prior to her death.
She was a caring person who loved being outdoors, gardening, the ocean and, most especially, being a grandmother to their 8 grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband; Morris Lee Morris of Omaha, Nebraska; son, Jeffrey Zink of Dublin, California; daughter, Angela and husband Richard Burke of Portland, Oregon; stepsons, Jammie and wife Gwyn Morris of Omaha, Nebraska and, Jim and wife Tamara Morris of Aurora, Nebraska; eight grandchildren, Jennifer, Janet, Sadie, Elizabeth, Amy, Eli, Esmay and Austin; three great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Cinnia and Mia; one brother, Gerald and wife Suzann Kerr of Wichita, Kansas; and, sister, Pam and husband Frank Peters of Dodge City, Kansas; as well as extended family and friends.
Sandra was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather and her biological father.
Funeral Services will be Monday, March 31, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Chapel in Lexington with Pastor K.C. BeDunnah officiating.
Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington.
Visitation will be held Sunday, March 30, 2014, from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.
