Frederick "Albert" Hoesel, 77, of Callaway, Nebraska, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at Callaway District Hospital after a hard fought battle with acute myeloid leukemia.
He was born April 16, 1936, southeast of Callaway, Nebraska, to Fred and Ada (Zoerb) Hoesel. Albert attended country school and graduated from Callaway High School with the class of 1954.
Albert was united in marriage to Louise Schaeffer on January 3, 1956. They were the parents of five children; Mike and wife Lori Hoesel of Gothenburg, Nebraska, Tom and wife Jodi Hoesel of Callaway, Nebraska, Diane and husband Dale Seelhoff of Syracuse, Nebraska, Karen and husband Brad Queen of Keller, Texas, and Elizabeth and husband Bruce Bahnsen of Boulder, Colorado.
Albert was one of the original members of the Seven Valleys Rodeo Association forty eight years ago. Also, a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, BPOE Elks Lodge #1688, Broken Bow, Nebraska, Flatlander Car Club, and a dedicated 4-H leader for many years. He enjoyed collecting toy farm tractors and going to auctions and national shows. He enjoyed tinkering around in his wood shop and restoring his grandfather’s Buick.
Survivors include his wife; Louise Hoesel of Callaway, Nebraska; his children; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; brother, Steven and wife Julie Hoesel of Fort Dodge, Iowa as well as extended family and friends.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Ada Hoesel and his in-laws, Charles and Edith Schaeffer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, March 8, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Callaway with Father Antony Thekkekara celebrating.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 7, 2014, from 6-7 p.m. with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church. The casket will be closed at Rosary and Mass.
By request of the family, memorial donations can be made to the Callaway District Hospital in Albert’s name.
Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Callaway.
