Clifford O. Hagan, 85, of Elwood, Nebraska (formerly of Sutherland) died Saturday, March 1, 2014 at the Elwood Care Center.
He was born on April 19, 1928, at Eddyville, Nebraska to Frances and Cora (Wilson) Hagan. Clifford grew up in Lexington and attended school there as well. Clifford was united in marriage to Lois Hanson on June 19, 1948. Four children were blessed from this marriage; Vivian, David, Mike & Pat. The family lived in several places in Nebraska. The Hagan’s lived in Gothenburg until 1963 when they moved to Sutherland, they would then move to Hershey in 1985 and resided there until 1990. Clifford and Lois moved to Hallam in 1990 and would end up settling back into Sutherland in 2000. Lois now lives in Cozad at the Golden Living Center because of her declining health. Clifford moved to the Elwood Care Center to be closer to family.
Clifford spent the majority of his life trucking. He started out with R.T. Hanson Trucking, then went on to work for Garland Tickle for 5 years, Fleece Brothers for 6 years and then went out on his own. Before he retired, Clifford drove truck for Consolidated Freightways.
He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting and piddling around with his John Deere Tractor. Clifford and Lois owned a camper and loved to travel. Spending time with family was also very important. He will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his wife; Lois Hagan of Cozad, Nebraska; two sons: David and wife Sue Hagan of Cheyenne, Wyoming & Pat and wife Ann Hagan of Smithfield, Nebraska; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, with one on the way; one brother: Bob and wife Janice of Lexington, Nebraska; two sisters: Velma and husband Bill Blythe of Brownwood, Texas & Verla Whidby of Victorville, California
He was a member of Teamsters.
Clifford was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Vivian Ready, one son Mike, sixteen brothers, five sisters & numerous brothers and sisters-in-law.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 7, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at the Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church in Smithfield with Reverend Tim Glendening, officiating.
Visitation will be on Thursday, March 6, 2014 from 5-7 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.
Inurnment will be on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Robb Cemetery south of Lexington.
Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
