Bonnie R. Tuma, 80, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away Friday, January 31, 2014, at Lexington Regional Health Center.
She was born March 30, 1933, in Lexington, Nebraska, to Ray L. and Lorena J. (Hanson) Scott. Bonnie moved with her folks at the age of 3 north of Lexington and started school at rural District #59. She graduated from the 8th grade and went onto attend Lexington High School, graduating in 1950. While in high school Bonnie worked as a Nurses’ Aide at the Lexington Hospital and an Usher at the Majestic Theater. She then moved to California for a time.
Bonnie was united in marriage to Donald Tuma on September 14, 1957, in Lexington. In 1958, they moved to Lincoln where she was employed by IBEW Local #265. They returned to Lexington in 1973.
Throughout the years Bonnie worked at David Harem Feeds, Roberts Cattle Company, Dawson County Feeds and the Lexington Livestock Market.
Always busy, Bonnie enjoyed reading, cooking, gardening, crossword puzzles, sewing and crocheting. Her greatest joy was time spent with her family.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years; Donald Tuma of Lexington, Nebraska; children; Don Tuma of Lexington, Nebraska; Cathy (Max) Reynolds of Lexington, Nebraska; and, Mike (Evelyn) Tuma and their son, Jacob of Lincoln, Nebraska; grandchildren; Matthew Tuma of Springfield, Missouri; Stephanie Tuma and children, Jolean, Mitchell and Jocelyn of Elk City, Oklahoma.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents.
The family has honored Bonnie’s wishes for cremation.
A Family Memorial Service will be held at a later date. A Memorial may be made in her memory to the Donor’s Choice.
