Beth Ellen DeLara, 84, of Johnson Lake, Nebraska, passed away Thursday, January 16, 2014, at Clark Jeary Retirement Community in Lincoln, Nebraska.
She was born December 29, 1929, in Bruning, Nebraska, to Harry and Helen (Hofrichter) Bowman. She grew up in Bruning and graduated from Bruning High School. She was united in marriage to Norman Wright in 1946, five children were blessed to this marriage; Susan, Diana, Lila, George, and Mike. The family moved to Lexington, Nebraska in 1954. She then married George Bigelow in June of 1982, at Johnson Lake, Nebraska, he preceded her in death on February 4, 1994. Beth married Jon DeLara on November 26, 1998, in 29 Palms, California. He also preceded her in death on April 6, 2012.
Beth was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Lexington since 1954. She served on various organizations in the church including her serving circle. Beth loved singing in the choir and enjoyed leading the youth group and teaching Sunday School when her children were young. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary since 1971, and a past Girl Scout leader. She absolutely loved all sports, playing cards, reading, traveling and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Beth loved life, loved her family and touched many lives. She had a smile and a kind word for everyone she met and never, ever knew a stranger. Beth enjoyed living at the lake and considered her lake friends like her second family. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her children; Susan “Sue” (Matt) Williams of Gothenburg, Nebraska, Diana (Scott) Kline of Sun City West Arizona, George (Mindy) Wright of Lincoln, Nebraska and Mike Wright of Johnson Lake, Nebraska; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and several step-grandchildren and their families.
Beth was preceded in death, in addition to her husbands, by her daughter, Lila Wright.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, January 24, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Lexington with Reverend Dr. Dyton Owen officiating.
Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 23, 2014, from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington.
