Mario Medrano, Jr., 27, of Hope Mills, North Carolina, former Lexington resident, passed away Monday, January 6, 2014, at his home.
He was born May 17, 1986, in King City, California, to Mario Medrano Garduno and Amanda Angel De Leon. He moved with his family to Lexington as a boy and graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 2004. He joined the United States Army on November 21, 2005, and was honorably discharged on March 12, 2009. He served in Afghanistan as an Army Ranger.
Upon his discharge from the Army he worked in sales for Verizon.
Mario had a huge heart, loved being with his sons, family and friends. He was a “big kid” at heart and enjoyed toy helicopters and his cars. Mario loved working out and going to the gym.
Mario is survived by his two sons; Mario Nicholas Brasseaux of Columbus, Georgia; and Mason Allen Medrano of Fayetteville, North Carolina; his parents of Lexington, Nebraska; brother, Leo Medrano of Lexington, Nebraska; sisters, Brenda Medrano and Jessica Medrano both of Lexington, Nebraska; as well as other relatives and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, January 16, 2014, at 12:00 Noon at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lexington with Reverend Jorge Canela officiating.
Burial with Military Honors will be in the Fort McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell, Nebraska at 2:30 p.m.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 15, 2014, from 3-5 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington. Rosary will follow at 6:00 p .m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church.
