Marie Glenrose Bigelow, 96, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away January 6, 2014, at Plum Creek Healthcare Community in Lexington.
Marie was born November 24, 1917, at Moorefield, Nebraska, to Glen B. and Martha (Glenn) Melosh. She was a 1935 graduate of Smithfield High School and attended two years at Kearney State Teacher’s College.
She was united in marriage to Harold Bigelow on April 14, 1947, in Lexington, Nebraska. One son, James, was blessed to this marriage.
Marie taught school for 9 years and then finished her career at Northwestern Bell telephone after 26 ½ years.
She enjoyed reading, sewing, cooking, canning, and keeping her home. Family was very important to Marie. She and Harold enjoyed going to his Army Reunions and attending Travelogues. Marie also took care of her parents until their passing.
Marie was a faithful member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lexington as well as the Altar Society.
She is survived by her son; James Bigelow of North Highlands, California; four grandchildren; John Bigelow of Denver, Colorado; Robin Bigelow of Sacramento, California; Heidi Bigelow of Citrus Heights, California; Michael and his wife Jessica Bigelow of Murrieta, California; and, two great-grandsons, Maddox and Caden.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold; and, one sister, Josephine Dickerson.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, January 11, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lexington with Reverend Jorge Canela celebrating.
Visitation will be Friday, January 10, 2014, from 6-7 p.m. with Rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Chapel in Lexington.
Burial will take place in the Highland Cemetery at Bertrand, Nebraska.
Memorials are suggested to St. Ann’s Catholic Church.
