Kenneth “Wayne” Hendricks, 62, of Cozad, Nebraska, passed away, Wednesday, January 1, 2014, at Cozad Community Health Systems.
He was born December 12, 1951, in Arnold, Nebraska, to Rollie Kenneth and Ruth Renee (Aikin) Hendricks. He was baptized at Morningstar Evangelical Church at Stop Table, near Callaway.
Wayne was born a special child of God and lived with his parents until he was six years old. He then went to live at the Beatrice State Home, and in the early 1970’s, spent the rest of his life at South Central Developmental Services in Cozad. He loved his caretakers and enjoyed going for visits to his parent’s home in Lexington, but always wanted to go home to Cozad. He also enjoyed going for rides in the car.
Wayne is survived by his parents of Lexington, Nebraska; two sisters; Bonnie (Ron) Rowand of Berthoud, Colorado; and, Deb (Bernie) Petersen of Arvada, Colorado; one nieces, Corrin (Lance) Goudzwaard of Littleton, Colorado; two nephews, Keith (Serena) Sladky of Lexington, Nebraska; and, Jim (Dawn) Sladky of Oxford, Nebraska; nine grandnieces and grandnephews; extended family as well as his
South Central family.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and sister, Kathleen Hendricks.
There will be no visitation as the family has chosen cremation.
A Memorial Celebration of Wayne’s life will be held Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Chapel in Lexington with Pastor Megan Morrow officiating.
Inurnment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery east of Lexington, Nebraska prior to the Memorial Service.
Memorials are suggested to South Central Developmental Services in Cozad.
