Delores Elaine Huss

April 25, 1929 — June 13, 2008

Delores E. Huss, 79, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Friday, June 13, 2008, at her home in Lexington. She was born April 25, 1929, at Stratton, Nebraska, to Alois and Mary Anna (Sramek) Lorens. Delores attended school at Stratton, graduating from Stratton High School with the class of 1947. Delores taught school for several years and worked in the Commercial National Bank at Stratton. She was united in marriage to Melvin F. Huss on August 22, 1950, at St. John’s Catholic Church at Beardsley, Kansas. Three children were blessed to this union; Richard, Ronald and Janelle. The couple moved to Lexington in 1956, when Melvin went to work for the Lexington Sale Barn. The couple later purchased the business and Delores helped in many aspects of the business alongside Melvin. Always active in her community, Delores was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, the Altar Society, St. Ann’s School Board, Business and Professional Women, the Tri-County Hospital Auxiliary, the Lexington Painting Club and the A.R.T. Club. She also belonged to the “Birthday Club”. When the children were small, Delores was a Brownie, Cub Scout and 4-H leader. She dearly enjoyed entertaining her friends on Fillmore Street. Delores was always willing to help others and as a result received the Good Neighbor Award through Ak-Sar-Ben and the Sunshine Award through KOLN/KGIN television. Delores enjoyed painting, cooking and spending time with family and friends. When she was recovering at Plum Creek Care Center, she was seen as the caretaker, instead of the patient.
