Richard Henry Schulte

Richard H. “Dick” Schulte, 79, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Thursday, June 12, 2008, at his home in Lexington surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 4, 1929, at Kearney, Nebraska, to Lloyd and Rosie (Brisbin) Schulte. Dick grew up in the Kearney area and stayed close to home until entering the United States Navy on September 23, 1947, serving in Korea. He was Honorably Discharged on September 2, 1951. Dick was united in marriage to Ruby Loar on February 18, 1952, at Broken Bow, Nebraska, five children were blessed to this union; Michael, Joyce, Wanda, Linda and Cindy. The couple made their home in Lexington and Grand Island until moving to Kearney in 1956. They moved to Thousand Oaks, California for two years, but returned to Nebraska and to Lexington in the late 1970’s, where they have made their home ever since. Dick’s church and faith were strong influences in his life as well as his family’s lives. As a member of the Calvary Assembly of God Church, he drove bus to mission trips in Louisiana to help following hurricane Katrina as well as several trips to Branson, Missouri. He also drove kids to Kearney, Nebraska to the Royal Kids Camp. Dick and Ruby loved to motorcycle around the country. They belonged to the “Retreads Group” a motorcycle club who traveled around the country. Dick spent his working career driving semi, the past 17 years were spent at Nebraska By-Products. Dick was also a member of the American Legion and the VFW. He was past president of the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship Group, a non-denominational international group. Although it was well known that his faith was the major part of his life, it was his family that kept him going through thick and thin. He will be so very missed. Survivors include his loving wife: Ruby Schulte of Lexington, Nebraska One son: Michael (Katy) Schulte of Lexington, Nebraska Four daughters: Joyce Knickelbein of Lexington, Nebraska Wanda (Jerry) Fisher of Cozad, Nebraska Linda (Jerry) Halouska of North Platte, Nebraska Cindy (Mike) Lanini of Lincoln, Nebraska One brother: Edward Schulte of Ansley, Nebraska Four sisters: Priscilla Young of Seattle, Washington Karen Eddy of Norfolk, Nebraska Sharon Bellman of Seattle, Washington Cheryl Westwood of Redlands, California Nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren (with one on the way), many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Dick was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, George and David; one sister, Charlotte and one great-granddaughter, Faith. Funeral Services will be Monday, June 16, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at Calvary Assembly of God Church in Lexington with Pastor Joe Masten officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be in the Evergreen Cemetery at Lexington. Visitation will be held Sunday, June 15, 2008, from 2-5 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington. Memorials are kindly suggested to the Royal Kids Camp in Kearney, Nebraska. Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is in charge of arrangements.
