Rogene M. Tvrdy

Rogene M. (Esslinger) Tvrdy, 80, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away Friday, November 1, 2013, at Lexington Regional Health Center. She was born June 7, 1933, near Arapahoe, Nebraska, to Julius and Leona (Holst) Esslinger. Rogene attended Lone Tree Country School and Arapahoe High School. She was united in marriage to Edward Tvrdy on April 20, 1969, in Elwood, Nebraska. The couple moved to Lexington in 1973, from Overton. Rogene spent her working years as a cook at Lexington Community Hospital and in housekeeping at Westside Care Home. Rogene was known for her beautiful crocheted afghans and pillows and beautiful crafts. She loved to play cards, marbles and do puzzles. She and her brother, Wes, enjoyed Nascar races and anytime the family got together was a joy for Rogene. She was a wonderful, kind-hearted person who looked forward to visits from her nieces and spending time with family and friends. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Lexington. She is survived by one brother, Wesley (Sally) Esslinger of Lexington, Nebraska; two special nieces; Sandie (Bob) Anderson of Lexington, Nebraska and Sherry (Shane) Area of Overton, Nebraska; other nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. Rogene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ed in 1999; and, niece Sharon. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, November 5, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lexington with Pastor Rob Kuefner officiating. Burial will be held later that same day at 2:00 p.m. at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell, Nebraska. Visitation will be Monday, November 4, 2013, from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington. Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church Tape Ministry.
