Robert L. "Pop Squat" Conz

Bob “Pop Squat” Conz, 84, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away Monday, October 28, 2013, at the Lexington Regional Health Center. He was born July 24, 1929, in Maitland, Missouri, to George Albert and Bertha l. (Fishback) Conz. Bob was a 1948 graduate of Maitland High School and went onto further his education at Midwestern School of Evangelism in Ottuma, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Lucile May Strever on October 24, 1952. Bob and Lucile moved to Lexington in 1952. Bob worked as a farmhand for Don Knauss and Chris Lauby. He also worked at Safeway in Cozad and Plectron in Overton. Prior to retiring he spent 11 years in maintenance at the Dawson County Courthouse. He was a member of LexChristian Church where he was active in the church choir. He was the past president of the All American C.B. Club. Bob collected coins, antique dishes such as Milk Glass, and Ruby Red and Orange Carnival Glass. Survivors include his children; Robert Mark Conz of Ogallala, Nebraska; Larry (Bernice) Conz of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; Debra (James) Pray of Butler, Missouri; and, Cindy Conz of Lawrence, Kansas; one brother, George Conz of Iowa; one sister, Fay Smith of Maitland, Missouri; six grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lucile; two brothers, Fred and Floyd; a sister-in-law and two brothers-in-law. Funeral Services will be Thursday, October 31, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Chapel in Lexington with Pastor K.C. BeDunnah officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 30, 2013, from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home. It was Bob’s wishes his body be cremated following the funeral service. A Memorial has been established. Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is assisting the family with arrangements.
