Wilma V. Boyd, 85, of Casper, Wyoming, former Lexington/Kearney, Nebraska resident, passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2013, at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper.
She was born April 20, 1928, in Cozad, Nebraska, to Charles Logan and Anna Rita (Johnson) Shuler. Wilma was a graduate of Cozad High School and furthered her education at Kearney State Teacher’s College.
Wilma was united in marriage to James E. Boyd on May 24, 1950, in Alda, Nebraska. The couple was blessed with three children; James Lee, John Eugene and Carolyn Jean. The couple made their home in Lexington where Jim owned and operated Coldwell Banker. In 1996, Wilma moved to Kearney and in 2012, moved to Casper.
Wilma was a member of the First Christian Church in Lexington and Countryside Christian Church in Kearney. She was always active in her church where she served as Sunday school teacher and the Women’s Council. She was a past member of Spring Creek Extension Club, Golden Hours Club, a lifetime member of the Morton PTA and a Red Cross Volunteer.
Wilma had a heart of gold and always had a smile on her face and a warm welcome for all she came in contact with. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother whose memory will be forever cherished.
Survivors include two sons; James Lee and wife Mary Boyd of Keensburg, Colorado; John Eugene and wife Carrie Boyd of Stilwell, Kansas; daughter, Carolyn Jean “Jeannie” Boyd of Casper, Wyoming; three grandchildren; Kristina Lynn and husband Chad Weaver of Stilwell, Kansas; Jesse Lee and wife Angela Boyd of Greeley, Colorado; Jennifer Lauritzen of Sacramento, California; two great-granddaughters, Hadleigh Lynn Weaver of Stilwell, Kansas, and Abigale Lee Boyd of Greeley, Colorado; one sister, Leona Johnson of San Jose, California; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James “Jim” Boyd in 1991; brother, Neal Shuler; sister-in-law, Ruth Shuler and brother-in-law, Frank Boyd.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, October 19, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at LexChristian Church in Lexington with Pastor Chad Laughrey officiating.
Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington.
Visitation will be held Friday, October 18, 2013, from 5-7 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.
