Gladys Marie Tool

Gladys M. Tool, 82, of Minden, Nebraska, former Lexington resident, passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2013, at Bethany Home in Minden. She was born January 12, 1931, in Lexington, Nebraska to Arthur and Hannah (Christensen) Rasmussen. Gladys attended school at Lexington. She was united in marriage to Melvin D. Tool on September 8, 1947, in Phillipsburg, Kansas. Four children were blessed to this marriage; Sharon, Barbara, Douglas and Scott. Gladys lived in Lexington her entire life until moving to Bethany Home in Minden because of her health. During her working years Gladys ran the Sale Barn Café for years, worked for J.M. McDonalds until they closed and then worked for Moseley's IGA. Gladys was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing bridge, golfing, quilting, having coffee with friends and spending time with family. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who will be so very missed. Survivors include her children; Sharon (Mark) Brandt of Ravensdale, Washington; Barbara Tool of Stapleton, Nebraska; Douglas (Tamara) Tool of Plano, Texas; and, Scott (Ladonna) Tool of Lincoln, Nebraska; six grandchildren; Darin Brandt of Santa Rosa, California; Eric (Tiffany) Brandt of Seattle, Washington; Alan Tool of Lincoln, Nebraska; Andrew Tool of Lincoln, Nebraska; Nicholas Tool of Plano, Texas; and, Ellie Tool of Plano, Texas; one great-granddaughter, Madeline Brandt of Seattle, Washington; Three sisters; June Haynes of Fremont, Nebraska; Doris Furby of Amherst, Nebraska, and, Mary Hall of Kearney, Nebraska; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melvin; three sisters, Nellie, Esther, and Ruby; one brother, Gerald; and, three infant siblings. Funeral Services will be Friday, October 4, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Lexington with Reverend Dr. Dyton Owen officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington, Nebraska. Visitation will be held Thursday, October 3, 2013, from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington. Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church, Lexington Volunteer Fire Department, Bethany Home in Minden, Nebraska, or the Donor’s Choice.
