Ramona Grace Schievelbein, 70, of Elwood, Nebraska, passed away suddenly at her home on Sunday, September 29, 2013.
Ramona was born December 6, 1942, in Palisade, Nebraska, to Vernon and Grace (Nutt) Shepherd. She was a 1960 graduate of Stockville High School in Stockville, Nebraska. She was married to Lyle Schievelbein on October 1, 1961, in Stockville. Four sons were blessed to this marriage; Michael Ray, Ronald Dean, Mark Alan, and Eric Lynn.
Following the couple’s marriage they lived in Albion, Nebraska, Nevada, California, Arkansas, Lebanon, Kansas and then settled in Elwood, Nebraska. They were the proud owners of Wendland Construction from 1972 until 1986. Lyle and Ramona were always active in their community and church. In 1986, Ramona went to work for Walmart, working as a department supervisor until retiring in 2007.
Ramona was the District Commissioner of Cub-Scouting of Tri-Trails Council where she was awarded the Silver Beaver for her service to the Council. She was very involved in Geneology and Native American Artwork. Family was the mainstay of her life and so enjoyed time spent with her sons and grandchildren. Ramona will be very missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her mother; Grace Nutt Shepherd Godfrey of Elwood, Nebraska; two sons; Michael Ray (Leisa) Schievelbein of Arvada, Colorado; Ronald Dean (Deceased-Fort McPherson National Cemetery); Mark Alan (Deceased-Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery); Eric Lynn (Michelle) Schievelbein of Omaha, Nebraska; siblings; Darlene (Shepherd) and Ray Pierson of North Platte, Nebraska; Alice (Shepherd) and Joe Herrick of Cozad, Nebraska; Norma (Shepherd) and David Greeley of Hershey, Nebraska; twin brothers, Duane (Brenda) Shepherd of Brady, Nebraska; and, Wayne (Carol) Shepherd of North Platte, Nebraska; eleven grandchildren, Tyler Patrick Wilson, Anthony Dean Schievelbein, Natalie Anne Schievelbein, Tiffany Waller, Ricky Dewey, Ashley Marie Schievelbein, Alex James Schievelbein, Hannah Grace Schievelbein, Joshua David Schievelbein, Quinton Milo Schievelbein, and Moorea Cecile Schievelbein; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Ramona was preceded in death by her father; husband, Lyle in 2003; and sons, Ronald in 1988, and Mark in 2012.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, October 5, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Elwood, Nebraska with Pastor Mary Fuller and Evangelist Mike Millican co-officiating.
Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery south of Elwood.
Visitation will be held Friday, October 4, 2013, from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.
Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation. All floral gifts will be donated to the Elwood Care Center for their enjoyment.
