Ilean P. Falkinburg

Ilean P. Falkinburg, 89, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away Monday, September 16, 2013, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. She was born August 31, 1924, on a farm in Gosper County, Nebraska north of Smithfield, to Homer and Ida Faye (Alkire) Davis. Ilean graduated from Lexington High School and attended Kearney State Teacher’s College where she earned her Teaching Certificate at Normal Training. She traveled as a nanny with Dr. and Mrs. Victor Norall while he served during WWII as an army doctor. She was a teacher in a rural Dawson County school, theater owner, and homemaker. Ilean was united in marriage to Ralph E. Falkinburg, Jr. on February 28, 1947, at the First Presbyterian Church in Lexington. The couple was blessed with two sons and two daughters; Stephen, Sharolyn, Sue Ann, and Scott. Ilean loved to spend time with her family, especially her thirteen grandchildren and her twenty-seven great-grandchildren. She enjoyed her garden, flowers (both indoor and outdoor), crocheting, reading, sewing, doing crossword and jumble puzzles, baking goodies, canning and freezing garden produce, and her favorite TV shows. Many families remember Ilean as the friendly face of the Majestic Theater as you walked in and purchased your ticket (or perhaps enjoyed the theater popcorn)! She will be so missed by her large, loving family. She is survived by two sons and their wives; Steve (Loretta) Falkinburg of Lexington, Nebraska; Scott (Kathryn) Falkinburg of Pratt, Kansas; two daughters and their husbands, Sharol (Gary) Weston of Castle Rock, Colorado; Sue Ann (Steve) Finke of North Platte, Nebraska. Three brothers; Everett (Loretta) Davis of Lexington, Nebraska; Homer Davis, Jr. of Elm Creek, Nebraska; and, Howard (Erlene)Davis of Arapahoe, Nebraska; one sister, Georgia Ashmore of Lexington, Nebraska. Thirteen grandchildren and their spouses; Stephen, II (Shelly) Falkinburg; Brian (Shannon) Falkinburg; Matt (Suzy) Falkinburg; Jeff (Britney) Falkinburg; Gina (Casey) Lindsey; Nathan (Debbie) Falkinburg; Teresa Weston; Heather (Chad) Rodine; Brandon (Sarah) Finke; Chad (Jennifer) Finke; Amanda (Andrew) Nelsen; Derek Finke; and, Eric Falkinburg. Twenty-seven great-grandchildren; Alex, Hunter, Brinley, Alison, Colin, Connor, Owen, Hayden, Tyler, Dillon, Brendan, Zane, Zoe, Jazmin, Trinity, Jesse, Xavier, Giselle, Chase, Meadow,Treyden, Makya, Roslynn, Reyanne, Riley, Makenzie, and, Aiden. Ilean was preceded in death by: her husband, Ralph; parents, Homer & Ida Faye Davis; sisters, Dorothy Weismann and Mary Adams; great-grandson, Jasper Weston; brother-in-law, Ben Adams and sister-in-law, Marianne Davis. Funeral Services will be Friday, September 20, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Lexington with Reverend Caroline Vickery officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 19, 2013, from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington. Memorials are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church or the Majestic Theater Renovation Project. Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is assisting the family.
