Axie E. (Kennedy) Karschner, 81, of Holdrege, Nebraska, passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2013, at Christian Homes in Holdrege.
She was born October 10, 1931, in Harlem County, Kentucky to James and Ethel (Ingram) Goodin. Axie graduated from high school in Kentucky and moved to Nebraska in the early 1960’s. She was united in marriage to Charles “Bill” Kennedy in July of 1971, in Pineville, Kentucky. Two sons were blessed to this marriage; Marvin and Charles. Bill preceded her in death in 2004. Axie found love again and was united in marriage to Harold Karschner in November of 2008, at Holdrege. She welcomed Harold’s children; Wayne, Larry, David and Karen.
Axie enjoyed camping, fishing, boating, riding motorcycles and spending time with family. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to tease. She loved her family and grandchildren and always welcomed and accepted Harold’s family as her own. She will be so very missed.
Survivors include her husband; Harold Karschner of Holdrege, Nebraska; two sons; Marvin (Roberta) Kennedy of Ridgecrest, California and Charles “Bill” Kennedy of Holdrege, Nebraska; stepchildren; Wayne (Monie) Karschner of Kearney, Nebraska; Larry (Pam) Karschner of Kearney, Nebraska; and, David (Deb) Karschner of Rangely, Colorado; and, Karen (Mark) Wilbur of Holdrege, Nebraska; one sister, Faye Napier of Florida; five granddaughters, Vicki, Natalie, Lisa, Selena, and Stella; as well as many great-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Axie was preceded in death in addition to her first husband, by her parents; and, three step-grandchildren, Kindra Wilbur, Kyle Karschner and, Christopher “Kit” Karschner.
Funeral Services will be Friday, September 20, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at Christian Homes in Holdrege with Chaplain DeWane Dow officiating.
Visitation will be held Thursday, September 19, 2013, from 5-7 p.m. at Christian Homes in Holdrege. The family will be present during visitation.
Memorials are suggested to the Family for later designation.
Burial will be in the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege.
