Walter G. “Wally” Brockmeier, 69, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away Monday, September 9, 2013, at Welcov Assisted Living at Plum Creek in Lexington.
He was born September 11, 1943, in rural Eustis, Nebraska, to Carl G. and Elsie M. (Roesler) Brockmeier.
Wally was a 1962 graduate of Eustis High School. He then went on to further his education at Milford Technical School in Milford, Nebraska. Upon completion of his schooling he returned to the farm. He farmed with his family until his health forced him to retire.
He loved playing cards and pool at the Grand Generation Center in Lexington as well as the interaction with the friends made at the center.
Wally’s family wishes to thank the many people who made it possible for him to attend his church at Grace Lutheran in Lexington, his caretakers at Plum Creek for the excellent care and the folks at the Grand Generation Center for making his days a bit brighter.
Wally is survived by his siblings; Reverend Dean (Kari) Brockmeier of Elk Mound, Wisconsin; Joanne (David) Fenner of Franklin, Tennessee; and, Wayne (Susan) Brockmeier of Cozad, Nebraska. Also surviving are his nieces, Melissa, Michelle, Tricia, and Tracy; nephews, Karl, Aaron, Adam, and Austin, other relatives and friends.
Wally was preceded in death by his parents; Carl and Elsie.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, September 12, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Lexington with Pastor Megan Morrow officiating.
Visitation will be held at the church prior to the service from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.
Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. in the Fairview Cemetery south of Cozad, Nebraska.
Memorials are suggested to Grace Lutheran Church.
