Garner E. Parks, 81, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Monday, April 28, 2008, at Shackley Retirement Village in Lexington.
He was born May 4, 1926, at Juniata, Nebraska to Marvin Earl and Lora (Madsen) Parks.
Garner was a graduate of Wood River High School with the class of 1944. He was united in marriage to Cleone White on November 28, 1948, at Lexington, Nebraska. They moved to Lexington permanently in 1957. The couple were blessed with five children; David, Ron, Lanette, Cheryl and Dan. Cleone passed away April 15, 1965, and Garner was married to Doris McInturf on August 21, 1965, at Lexington.
Garner farmed his entire life and in his “semi-retirement” worked for the Lexington Hay Mill. He loved working the land and also enjoyed his large vegetable garden. His pride and joy were his tomatoes. You never found a weed growing in his gardens. He supplied his neighbors and friends with a bountiful supply of vegetables each year.
He always enjoyed woodworking, making beautiful pieces of furniture and toys, some of which have become treasured family heirlooms.
Garner was a 50+ year member of the Church of Christ, where he served as Treasurer for more than 20 years.

Ron & Ginn Parks of Lincoln, Nebraska
Dan & Terry Parks of Rockville, Maryland
Two daughters: Lanette & Mark Loseke of Kearney, Nebraska
Cheryl & David Eakins of Kenosha, Wisconsin
One sister: Elva Schafer of York, Nebraska
Fourteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren with two on the way.
Garner was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Cleone; and three sisters, Lillian, Evelyn and Bethel.
Funeral Services will be Friday, May 2, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Chapel with Nathan Rhea and David Eakins, Ministers.
Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 1, 2008, from 4-7 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Chapel.
