Richard E. Wackerla, 48, of Johnson Lake, Nebraska, died Sunday, April 13, 2008, at his home.
He was born July 20, 1959, in Callaway, Nebraska, to Louis and Dorothy (Landreth) Wackerla. He grew up in Callaway and graduated from Callaway High School.
He worked in Lexington for Orthman Manufacturing, drove for Wynne Transportation, and was currently a mechanic at Fairbanks International.
He collected antique toy tractors, and enjoyed water skiing, and hunting and fishing in his earlier years. His true love was riding motorcycles.
Survivors include his mother: Dorothy Wackerla of Broken Bow, Nebraska.
Brother: Robert and wife Diann Wackerla of Axtell, Nebraska.
Sister: Kathleen and husband Stephen Orcutt of Kearney, Nebraska.
Nieces: BethAnn and BreAnn Wackerla of Axtell, Nebraska.
Nephews: Scott Orcutt of Kearney, Nebraska
Kendall Leigh of Longmont, Colorado
Shawn Orcutt of Fort Morgan, Colorado
Jesse Leigh of Kearney, Nebraska
Brandon Leigh of Kearney, Nebraska
He was preceded in death by his father Louis in 2003, and grandparents.
Memorial graveside service will be Friday, April 18, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Oconto, Nebraska
There will be no visitation.
